All About Takoma

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

We often take much longer than we should to get support, so I am glad you are looking into therapy! Change isn’t easy, but I believe in the therapy process and have witnessed incredible healing through this work. I absolutely love my clients and feel honored to witness and help guide them through their deepest hurts towards feeling whole and joy. If you feel like I might be a good fit for you, please reach out for a free discovery visit!

I bring a humanistic perspective to therapy meaning I believe people already have the natural ability to heal themselves and their relationships. Our minds and bodies are incredibly adaptive and are purposed in protecting us. However, at times the ways we have learned to protect ourselves and respond to life include harmful aspects and change is needed. My first task as a therapist is to fully see my clients and help them understand why they think, feel, and behave in the ways they do. Then, rather than trying to “fix” my clients, I help them to build self- awareness, access their strengths, resolve past hurts, and remove the barriers that are inhibiting them from feeling like themselves and connecting with others.

My Approach & Values

As a marriage and family therapist I also use a family systems perspective with my clients. Rather than just focusing on the individual, I believe that those around us affect our individual difficulties and we in turn impact them. By working with multiple parts of the “system,” change typically happens quicker and more holistically, creating happier individuals and relationships. I have experience and am passionate about working with relationship distress, trauma, behavior issues, depression, anxiety, sex issues, and life transitions with families, couples, and individuals. I promise an empathetic and understanding environment and welcome clients from all cultures, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
