Sebrina Woodland LMFT
Why she became a therapist: Therapy has been a dream and a natural transition for Sebrina as she has always felt a pull to be a helper and a listener. Building a career in this field at a later stage in life has given her a unique perspective. She has personally experienced many joys and intense struggles in physical and mental health, as well as in her relationships that allow for a deep level of empathy, lived experience and an accepting attitude toward every person she meets. She cares deeply and is passionate about what therapy can do.
Client Focus: Sebrina loves working with clients of all ages, backgrounds and challenges. Supporting clients in life transitions, whether it is young adults contemplating the future, mid-life transition to being single, an empty nester, spiritual struggles at any age, or children or adolescents navigating family or social struggles, these vulnerable places are ones she has experienced and especially likes to support.
Favorite Self-Help Resource: Though her life outside work is currently filled with textbooks and classes, Sebrina finds self-help from several podcasts, as well as in daily spiritual practice and quiet time to ponder.
Second Favorite Hobby: Sebrina is very involved in community theater and loves performing in and producing musicals, as well as teaching children to sing and act.
Greatest Fear: Her greatest fear is missing opportunities to be there for people and be present in the simple moments of beauty that we don’t appreciate when we are too distracted or overwhelmed.
Best Movie/TV Show: Sebrina loves watching anything on Masterpiece Theatre since she grew up in England, and also loves to watch anything her kids are currently into. The latest movies they pulled her into were “Planet of the Apes”.
Favorite Book: Her favorite book is “The Hiding Place”. The strength, faith and forgiveness journey of this true story deeply impacted her and continues to inspire the way she wants to live her life.
Coolest Place she has traveled: Sebrina has lived abroad quite a bit in her life, and loves to travel as much as she can. France and Greece are standouts for the scenery, history and food, but the most unique place she has traveled/lived, is the Philippines. The warmth and resilience of the people, the language, the rice terraces and their faith really touched her.
