All About Sadie

Marriage and Family Therapy Intern

Why did you get into therapy?

Growing up in a large family & having my own family for the last 10 years has always kept “family relationships” on my mind! I became fascinated with the influence and importance of relationships, especially romantic relationships, during my undergraduate studies when I took a Marriage and Family Relations class. When the class was wrapping up, I knew I needed more. I began to focus on the power of a couple’s relationship and quickly realized that serving couples is where I want to be in the realm of therapy.

What style do you implement in your counseling?

I prefer to use Emotionally Focused Therapy, which incorporates Attachment Theory. This style is all about understanding what you want most in your relationship, helping you see what is causing you to feel stuck with your partner, and working to get your relationship to a place where you both feel loved, understood, and valued.

Who do you see the most (couples, anxiety, depression, families, etc.)?

Couples, families, but welcoming of many circumstances.

A self-help book you’d recommend:

Strength of the Oak, Strength of the Willow: How to Find Courage and Compassion in a Turbulent World by Andrew L. Anderson

Second favorite hobby:

Behind adventuring with my husband and kids, I would say painting! I love the creative outlet and usually turn to watercolor or acrylics.

Greatest Fear:

Losing my family

Best movie you have seen in the last year

I’m more of a TV show person, so my recent favorite has been Wednesday. However, my kids have me hooked on Kpop Demon Hunters.

Favorite novel

Edenbrooke (all about regency romance)

Coolest place you have traveled

It’s tied between New York City and Disney World

Hobbies and interests

Adventuring with my husband and kids, Painting, Interior Decorating, Traveling, Watching Yankee Baseball, Cooking (and then eating), Crafting
