Therapist Post: 10 Reasons You Should See a Therapist

Written by Chelsea Petersen, LMFT

We all go through things in life, and often our expectations and dreams we had in mind are not met. These unmet expectations or bumps in the road can create huge rifts in our lives, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. If you are experiencing or have experienced heartache YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Some of these challenges we can get through without seeking professional help, but other times we may get stuck. Here are some reasons you may want to reach out for professional help:

1: Unexpected mood swings

2: Overwhelmed by life stressors

3: Big changes

4: Harmful thoughts

5: Avoiding things I once loved

6: Difficulty feeling anything but numb

7: Use of substances to cope

8: Change in patterns or habits such as sleeping or eating

9: Feeling abandoned or alone

10: Withdrawing from friends and family

These are not the only reasons one should seek help, but are certainly still reasons for doing so. At Cache Valley Counseling, we offer free Discovery Visits to see if therapy is a good option for you. This would provide you with an opportunity to visit with one of our therapists to see if you would be a good fit together and would be able to progress and improve. If other approaches need to be tried or would be helpful in this process, the therapists at Cache Valley Counseling will help you determine a path that is right for you.
